Fitness looks different for everyone. Whether it's through waka ama, hula fitness or personal training, there is a whole world of fitness solutions available in our communities.
To highlight this diversity, we were tasked with sharing the experiences of three Māori and Pasifika people embracing fitness their way.
We met a personal trainer, a hula fitness instructor and a waka ama coach who shared their 'why' and how their fitness gave them a sense of purpose and wellbeing.
Whether it was achieving hauora and connection to their tinana (body), a connection to the taiao (environment) or a connection to their femininity, we were inspired to see just how powerful engaging in fitness can be for our people.
